Here in America…

I really do want to leave. Not because other places aren’t racist but precisely because if you can tolerate it here, you can tolerate it anywhere.

I’m not going to write another post on racism. I’m going to write today about ‘the fuck’ behind the death of a precious five year boy named Cannon Hinnant in Wilson, North Carolina, USA.

Five year old Cannon Hinnant was shot at point blank range by Darius Sessoms. Cannon’s father, Austin, said that Cannon was playing outside when he was shot. Austin ran to Cannon and held him while screaming for help to save his son. He looked towards his neighbor,s residence and saw Darius, the shooter, holding a gun and pacing frantically in the yard. Austin felt all of the rage and fear that any father would. He was torn between wanting to attack Darius and not wanting to leave his son’s side.

Cannon didn’t survive.

Two unique things to note: 1) Darius got in his car and fled and he was apprehended 30 minutes from his home. He was jailed, held without bond/bail, and is awaiting trial. 2) A rally cry for, “Justice for Cannon”, “Say his name”, and “White Lives Matter” took over social media.

The fuckery behind it all is that some people tried to synthesize these two completely unrelated things by making it racial. They turned this isolated incident and highly uncommon act of violence (paragraph 8) into the most primitive thought that their drunken minds could muster: Black killed white. Me white. Me real victim now.

The simple mindedness, the stupidity, the ignorance, and the low intelligence that pervades (and is) an entire nationalist demographic in the United States has turned the death of this poor sweet baby into a resistant rally cry. It has turned the relatable unfairness, the shock, the terror of any parent, and the bitterness of mourning Cannon’s memory into an opportunity to use his still fresh corpse as a meat shield for white people who don’t want to acknowledge wrong. His death is now used for white national ‘whataboutism‘.

I hurt for him! You’re not honoring this baby. You’re using him as a riot shield against progressive change for the betterment of society. That’s the fuck!

Other ‘fucks’ of note

1.) White Lives Matter

First of all “White Lives Matter” is irrelevant.

• The chance of a white person being killed by ANYONE in America is 13 in a million vs 62 in a million for blacks.
• For whites it’s 11 in a million chance that your killer is white and 2 in a million that the killers is black.
• For blacks it’s 5 in a million chance that the killer is white and and 56 in a million that the killers is black.

The biggest threat to either demographic is their own. White people have a lower chance of being killed by police or blacks. So there’s practically no threat to the lives of white people other than themselves.

2.) Black Lives Matter is a movement against police brutality and systemically embedded racial bias.

3.) White Lives Matter is a ‘tit for tat’, not in regards to Lives that Matter but to which lives matter. Since BLM is political (because politics and policies are what allowed the bias to exist in open form), it is therefore a challenge to a racist system of preferential treatment. White lives do not suffer from anti anything systemic or otherwise except for maybe classism. So to say “White Lives Matter” is specifically a fuck you response to the “Black” part of which lives matter and not because White Lives are in any danger whatsoever.

More Anti-black intentionality

When the public posts “Justice for _______.” It’s because their murderers are still walking freely, or on paid leave, or are being protected in some way. The victimizers actions have not been acknowledge for what they are and there is a lack of an appropriate systemic response. Added insult to injury is when the victim gets their criminal history plastered all over the news channels while the victimizer gets painted as a ‘good guy and local hero’. These stark contrast highlights the injustice that we address when we demand “Justice for _______.”

When we say “Say His/Her name.” (Breonna Taylor) We’re trying to force an acknowledgment of someone’s innocence when systemic mechanics, politics, and the silence of the majority would otherwise let an innocent person’s death be swept under the rug. Imagine being raped or molested by a male relative and still having to pretend like nothing happened when the family gathers around the holidays. We want people to say then name so that the lack of justice is not lost or suppressed.

What happened to Cannon is something that none of us want to ever experience. Bless his little soul. I cannot say publicly what I would have done if it were my child. His color doesn’t matter. What happened to him is an equal fear for any person of any persuasion and in the end his killer was apprehended, jailed, charged, and is awaiting judgment. That is the justice that we all want to see for any wrongdoing.

When some idiot randomly hashtags “WHITE LIVES MATTER” or someone else tags “SAY HIS NAME” or someone else tags “JUSTICE FOR CANNON” – That’s not for any systemic/injustice reason because there’s no lack of justice. The cry is most certainly not for little Cannon because his killer will be brought to justice without question. The cry is for the provocateur’s benefit alone as they’ve found firewood to make a fire with.

Rest in peace

They don’t want justice for Cannon; they want communal response to their ideology which is anti-black. They have seen those hashtags used for “victims” that they don’t believe in and so, to wag their tongue at the media, the narrative, and the illegitimacy of racial injustice they picked up Cannon’s body and used it as wood to refresh their own fire.

These chanters have brains that are literally made of mush and Busch Lite. (No disrespect to the beer. All disrespect to the brains.) They may have thought that they had a martyr but really they used him as a mask for their ignorant masquerade. They effectively wore his death as the face of their sickening rally; using him to mascot for their bias is more beneficial than letting that baby rest in peace.

They care about Cannon in the most toxic way. They care in the most selfish way. They care as it relates to their own prideful nationalism and not as to how Cannon will be remembered. This is a mutilation of his memory in my opinion just to capitalize on an opportunity to highlight that a black killed a white during a time of civil protest and not to highlight sweet little Cannon for who he was, nor his childlike enthusiasms, or imaginations.

It doesn’t matter that Cannon will indeed get the justice he deserves, at least not to the people who are using him to win an argument. It also doesn’t matter, to them, that what they are using him for is as bad as murdering him over and over again because there is no rest to be had for what is left to remember him by, his name, or the brevity of his life because it’s been anchored to bullshit. To ‘thank’ for that, you have a demographic of stupid mother fuckers…….. No… stupid ‘other fuckers (because nothing else matters to them.)

Shame on them all.

Rest in peace to Cannon Hinnant age 5. I’ve used your name as much as I possibly could. I will donate to your family. I will defend your memory from those who would use it as a tool. Had things turned out differently for me then I would have a child about your age. She would be five and I would related to your father’s loss even more.
